Katie Mitchells restaurant was a two-story 12,000 s.f. restaurant designed to go on piles on the St. Johns River in the historic fishing village of Mayport, Florida. The building incorporates clerestory windows to allow daylight to penetrate the interior and a large wrap around deck to maximize views of the St. Johns River and local shrimp boats. The galvalume metal roof along with the board and batten cypress siding recall the vernacular architecture found in many waterfront structures along southern coastal regions.
