Neck Road Residence
Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida

This client was a single race car driver desiring a secondary residence with the ability to entertain friends and  accommodate a fully functional shop with space for working on, storing, and showcasing his automobiles.  In addition, the site needed to house a coach motor home, a 30’ boat, a car hauler, and a truck.

Curved beams over the shop area and a hipped roof over the storage structure help to scale the buildings down to  the residential proportions of the neighborhood. The wing-shaped roof on the main residence is supported with a structural steel skeleton with 8' overhangs. Finish materials include a mix of concrete, ground face CMU, teak, glass, and steel. Fiber cement panels with accent color bands contrast with the exposed steel beams and teak wood soffits.

The main house is organized around a central entertainment pit and features an upstairs exercise loft overlooking a racing themed interior. A glass wall showcasing restored project cars is visible from all parts of the home.
